As part of the launch of the Wakii initiative, the winners of the Luum Awards had the opportunity to feed, bathe and hear the stories of elephants rescued by the Elephants World Sanctuary in Thailand. On October 29, Wakii participated in a transformative experience that reminded participants of the value of empathy and respect for all forms of life.
The elephants at the sanctuary have been rescued from the logging industry and trekking camps, where they were exploited for years. Now, they enjoy a safe space where they can heal, rest, and live peacefully. The sanctuary works day by day for the elephant’s care, food, as well as their physical and emotional well-being, providing shelter for the elephants, particularly those that are elderly, recovering from abuse, or with disabilities.
During the volunteer day, we learned about the work that goes into the sanctuary’s operations and reaffirmed our commitment to initiatives that promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
Caring is communicating: through these experiences, we continue to inspire conscious and supportive actions in every corner of the planet.
