    Why are Wired Headphones Making a Comeback?

    After years of AirPods and Bluetooth headphones dominating the market, wired headphones are making a comeback, particularly among Gen Z. 

    The trend has started to grow in response to a debate that has been reopened on TikTok and social media, regarding the constant use of wireless devices close to users’ brains. 

    Although there is currently no conclusive scientific evidence that Bluetooth headphones pose a risk, conversations persist around continued exposure to low-intensity radio frequencies and electromagnetic fields.

    Specialized health media, such as Healthline, say that Bluetooth radiation levels are considered low. However, they also note that more studies on long-term exposure are still needed. For that reason, some people began to reduce the number of wireless devices they use daily “as a precaution.”

    The return of wired headphones in 2026

    But the conversation is not limited to health issues. Recent reports show that sales of wired headphones grew again in 2026, driven mainly by Gen Z consumers.

    Among the most mentioned reasons are:

    • Not having to charge them
    • Avoiding Bluetooth connection issues
    • Greater practicality
    • A perception of better sound quality.

    Plus, some specialists speak of a kind of “technological fatigue”, where people feel saturated with devices, notifications, batteries, and constant synchronizations.

    Fashion, nostalgia or technological fatigue?

    Beyond nostalgia, the return of wired headphones seems to reflect something deeper: a generation that is beginning to question whether wireless technology really makes life more comfortable… or simply more saturated.

    At a time when everything is faster, more connected, and automatic, some users seem to be finding value in just the opposite: Simpler, more direct, and less invasive products.
