Concrete has long been the foundation of our cities. Unfortunately, it is also a manger pollutant. For this reason, a company decided to flip the script on concrete.
During a residency at WASP in June 2025, Manufactura developed a new material called CORNCRETL, a biomaterial created with a robotic 3D printer with a KUKA arm. The material connects Mexico’s pre-Hispanic construction knowledge with the material traditions of northern Italy, by combining recycled derivatives of nejayote—a byproduct of maize processing—with Carrara limestone and marble powder.
The result? Three walls of different dimensions that showcase the material’s versatility and that propose a more circular construction model.
This development poses a possible paradigm shift in the construction industry.
The question is inevitable: can CORNCRETL replace concrete?
