Digital Transformation: Five Challenges Organizations Face Today

Argontech says the real challenge is no longer adopting technology, but ensuring that it delivers a tangible impact on operations.

Digital transformation in industry is no longer a conversation about the future. Today, it is part of the everyday agenda for companies that need to adapt to an increasingly dynamic, competitive and demanding environment.

After more than 30 years working alongside organizations across different industries on their technology transformation journeys, Argontech has identified a recurring challenge: the biggest obstacle is rarely adopting technology itself. It is ensuring that technology delivers a meaningful impact on day-to-day operations.

“The real challenge of digital transformation is not adopting more technology, but ensuring that technology has a tangible impact on operations. This means reviewing processes, organizing information and supporting people as they adopt new ways of working. Technology creates greater value when it becomes part of an integrated ecosystem designed to simplify processes and improve business outcomes.”

This is according to Ariel Kijak, CEO & Founder of Argontech, who has spent more than 30 years supporting organizations through technological transformation, helping them improve information management, automate processes and optimize operations.

First, technology without the right processes does not drive transformation. Many companies assume that digitalization simply means adopting new tools. But when underlying processes remain inefficient, technology only accelerates the same problems. Before automating, organizations need to understand how they operate and identify what actually needs to improve.

The second challenge is ensuring that information is available when it is needed. Many companies still have information scattered across spreadsheets, emails, shared folders and paper documents. Making faster decisions requires reliable, organized and accessible information for the people who need it. Document management and systems integration are no longer competitive advantages; they have become business necessities.

Third, organizations need to understand that automation does not mean losing control. There is still a perception that automating processes means giving up oversight. In practice, the opposite is often true. Automated processes can reduce errors, standardize tasks, improve traceability and free up time for higher-value activities.

The fourth challenge is that artificial intelligence needs a strong foundation. AI now sits at the center of almost every technology conversation, but delivering value from it requires reliable data and well-structured processes. Simply introducing an AI tool is not enough if information remains fragmented or different departments operate in completely different ways. Digital transformation begins long before AI enters the equation.

Finally, the greatest challenge remains cultural. Technology evolves rapidly, but people need time, support and training to adopt it effectively. The most successful projects are not necessarily those that implement the largest number of tools, but those in which the organization successfully embraces new ways of working. Digital transformation is, ultimately, a people-driven process.

“Industry will continue to evolve. New technologies, new business models and undoubtedly new challenges will emerge. But one thing is unlikely to change: the organizations that adapt most successfully will be those that understand that innovation is not simply about adopting technology, but about continuously improving the way they work. At Argontech, we believe our role is to support that process, helping companies identify solutions that generate real value for their operations and for the people who are part of them,” concludes Ariel Kijak.
