The story of Range Beauty starts with a personal need. Range’s founder, Alicia Scott, grew up with sensitive skin and conditions such as eczema and cystic acne, which made it difficult to find makeup products that would not irritate her skin and that also suited her skin tone. Faced with limited options in the beauty industry, Scott decided to create her own brand: a makeup line designed for reactive skin and diverse skin tones.

    The Story of Range Beauty

    • A personal problem turned into a business idea. Alicia Scott created the brand because she couldn’t find makeup for her skin tone or her dermatological sensitivities.
    • The brand was born with minimal investment. After researching how to launch a cosmetics line, she placed her first order for ingredients, valued at around $150. Then she developed her first product: the moisturizing foundation True Intentions.

    • The biggest challenge was entering an unfamiliar industry. Scott came from the fashion world, and had no experience in cosmetics, so she had to learn through research, mentorship, and acceleration programs.
    • The makeup was designed for sensitive skin. Range Beauty develops plant-based products specifically designed for ultra-reactive skin, combining dermatological care with inclusivity in shades.
    • The community has been key to growth. Social networks such as Instagram and TikTok have made it possible to connect with consumers, content creators, and influencers to amplify brand visibility.

    • The future points to retail and skincare. Among the growth plans is to expand to physical stores, launch skincare products, and consolidate itself as the reference brand for reactive skin.

    • The project also seeks social impact. Scott launched the Range Impact Fund to highlight the lack of proper dermatological diagnosis in skin with high melanin and promote greater medical education in this field.

    • A message for entrepreneurs: Each business path is different, so the key is to start, work consistently, and avoid comparing yourself to others.
