Artificial Intelligence (AI) has expanded beyond promising technology and has become one of the main engines of economic, scientific and social transformation, according to the AI Index Report 2026, prepared by the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), one of the most recognized reports worldwide to analyze the evolution of AI.

Each year, Stanford’s study brings together hundreds of indicators on research, investment, adoption, regulation and technological development to provide an analysis of the current state of AI.

More than predicting the future, the report seeks to answer a key question: How is artificial intelligence changing the way we live, work, and make decisions?

To do this, the report analyzes information related to companies, governments, universities and research centers around the world, becoming a tool for consultation for business leaders, academics, policymakers and organizations interested in understanding the impact of AI.

The most relevant topics of the AI Index Report 2026

    • AI Model Performance: Looks at how model capabilities evolve and the pace of technological advancements.
    • Global Investment: Shows which countries, companies, and investors are driving the development of artificial intelligence.
    • Enterprise Adoption: Examines how organizations are incorporating AI into their processes, products and services.
    • Employment and labor transformation: Studies the impact of Artificial Intelligence on professions and the new skills demanded by the market.
    • Education: Review the growth of AI and computer science training.
    • Scientific research: Analyzes the role of AI in new discoveries and advances in different disciplines.
    • Responsible AI: Addresses issues related to ethics, transparency, security, bias reduction, and responsible development.
    • Regulation and Public Policy: Synthesizes the main government initiatives to regulate the use of artificial intelligence.
    • Public perception: Studies to what extent the population trusts and accepts AI.
    • Global Competition: Compares the leadership of different countries in regards to research, innovation and investment.
    • Data Privacy and Governance: Examines the challenges associated with the responsible use of information.
    • Practical Applications: Presents examples of the use of artificial intelligence in health, business, scientific research and public services.

More than just a report, the 2026 AI Index provides an overview of AI’s impact on the economy, education, health and the labor market. Understanding these trends not only helps anticipate AI’s evolution, but also how organizations and everyday life could transform over the next few years.
