{"id":24571,"date":"2026-08-14T19:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T00:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tomilli.com\/en\/?p=24571"},"modified":"2026-08-29T19:09:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T00:09:06","slug":"pt-pods-private-gyms-you-can-book-from-your-phone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tomilli.com\/en\/pt-pods-private-gyms-you-can-book-from-your-phone\/","title":{"rendered":"PT Pods: Private Gyms You Can Book From Your Phone"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What if going to the gym didn\u2019t actually mean going to a gym?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the idea behind <strong>PT Pods<\/strong>, a British company that installs compact, private workout spaces that users can book and unlock through an app. Each Pod operates independently, combining fitness equipment, technology, guided workouts and privacy within a compact space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Gym That Started in a Backyard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idea emerged during lockdown, when <strong>Mike Mair<\/strong>, founder of PT Pods, built a small gym in his backyard to work out with his partner and a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During those sessions, Mair began questioning why some people avoided strength training and what barriers they encountered in traditional gyms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That led him to develop a different concept: a space where people could work out privately, without sharing equipment or dealing with some of the dynamics that can make conventional gyms feel intimidating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first PT Pod opened in <strong>Hackney Wick, London<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Your Phone to Your Workout<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Technology became a central part of the model. Through the PT Pods app, users can find a nearby unit, book a session and unlock the space directly from their phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once inside, they can follow guided workouts on an integrated screen or connect with a personal trainer via video call. The Pods are also equipped for strength and functional training, along with audio and climate-control systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the duration of the session, the entire space is reserved exclusively for the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Private Gym to a Solution for Buildings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what began as a solution for people looking for greater privacy while exercising has evolved into a broader business model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, PT Pods targets <strong>building owners and operators, hotels, offices, coworking spaces and residential developments<\/strong> looking to offer fitness facilities without having to build a traditional gym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The partner provides the space and electricity, while PT Pods handles the installation, maintenance, technology and operation of the units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company is already working with several operators across the UK.
