What if you could climb your way into a store? That is one of the experiences offered by TANSANMAGNESIUM, a Korean fashion brand inspired by climbing culture. Its name refers to magnesium carbonate—the chalk climbers use to improve their grip—a connection the brand carries through from its clothing to its physical spaces.
This concept comes to life in the brand’s first flagship store, located in Seongsu, one of Seoul’s leading fashion and design districts. Designed by Korean firm TOFF Studio, the four-story building transforms elements associated with climbing into integral parts of its architecture and the customer journey.
The rock structure on the ground floor marks the starting point of a climbing route that leads to the main retail area above. Designed to be fully climbable, the route reflects the concept of topping out, a climbing term that describes reaching the top of a route or boulder.

Climbing, however, is not required. The space includes an alternative entrance for visitors who prefer to explore the store without completing the route. The rock installation therefore serves both as a striking architectural feature and an invitation to physically experience one of the cultural codes that defines the brand.
The experience continues throughout the upper floors. A large sculpture of a climber’s hand reaching for a black sphere extends visually through part of the building, reinforcing the sense of ascent that shapes the project. TOFF Studio also incorporated materials such as wood, metal and textiles, while buttons, zippers, hardware and textile patterns appear as structural and functional details, connecting the space with the visual language of the clothing.
The ground floor also houses a café, which shares the first level with the climbing wall and the store’s entrance area. The main retail space occupies the upper floors, where the brand displays clothing, bags, accessories and collaborative collections.
The result is a space that goes beyond product display. TANSANMAGNESIUM turns climbing culture into an experience that visitors can move through, touch and—if they choose—even climb.
