The way we consume books has changed. Physical books are no longer the only option. Throughout the month of May, Audible Story House, in New York, has opened its doors to offer an immersive experience where audio storytelling comes to life. The space functions as a listening room and community center that seeks to transform the way people relate to audiobooks.
The venue includes a gallery to listen to audiobooks, a bar to enjoy drinks while listening, a café, a product store, a studio with practical demonstrations, and a Dolby Atmos lounge that allows you to live a cinematic experience thanks to the spatial audio. Audible has more than 300 titles available, as well as “Story Tiles,” physical pieces that allow you to explore and listen to audiobook fragments in an interactive way.
Beyond promoting audio as a format, this initiative reflects how new generations seek different and more immersive ways of accessing knowledge and entertainment. Audible turns the experience of “reading” into a social and sensory space, these types of initiatives become an alternative to reading and accessing knowledge from other formats, especially for generations to consume content in a more flexible, immersive and communal way.
