HEINZ Bib: The Bridal Bib That Protects Against Ketchup

Created with artist Gab Bois and Wieden+Kennedy New York, HEINZ Bib turns the risk of staining a wedding dress into a new opportunity to bring ketchup into the celebration.

A white dress and ketchup may not seem like the most practical wedding combination. That tension is precisely the idea behind HEINZ Bib, a bib designed to let brides enjoy fries, burgers and other foods with ketchup without putting their dresses at risk.

The piece was developed by Heinz in collaboration with designer and artist Gab Bois and Wieden+Kennedy New York. Made from red silk, it draws on the brand’s signature ketchup color and features a hand-embroidered Heinz bottle. Once it has served its purpose during the meal, it can be transformed into a small handbag.

From the White Dress to the Ketchup

The idea responds to a growing trend at some wedding celebrations: serving burgers, sliders, fries and other casual foods, particularly during the final hours of the reception.

Heinz identified a simple tension within this trend. Many of these foods naturally pair with ketchup, but eating them while wearing a white dress can be risky.

Instead of changing the product, the brand chose to intervene in the moment of consumption.

The choice of Gab Bois also complements the concept. The Canadian artist is known for reinterpreting everyday objects, food and fashion-related elements as unexpected visual pieces. With HEINZ Bib, that approach translates into an object that serves simultaneously as protection, an accessory and a communication piece.

    From Accessory to Cultural Moment

The launch also gained visibility beyond the campaign imagery. Jordyn Woods wore the HEINZ Bib during her wedding reception with Karl-Anthony Towns, where she was photographed eating fries with ketchup while wearing the accessory over her dress.

The appearance turned an everyday situation—eating at a wedding—into a product demonstration and, at the same time, content capable of circulating across fashion, entertainment and culture.

HEINZ Bib was released as a limited edition priced at US$57, available through Gab Bois’ online store.

Heinz Turns a Problem into a Consumption Occasion

What makes HEINZ Bib interesting is not just the object itself. Heinz did not need to develop a new variety of ketchup or change the way its product is consumed. Instead, the brand identified a moment when consumers might want to use ketchup but faced an obvious barrier.

It then turned that very barrier into the campaign’s product.

The white dress, which might have kept ketchup off the table, ultimately became the setting that placed it front and center. It demonstrates that finding new consumption occasions does not always require changing the product; sometimes, it simply means identifying what is preventing people from using it.
