MouthPad is a technology designed for people with reduced mobility to manage mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets or computers using their tongue.
This intelligent intraoral device developed by Augmental, serves as a hands-free mouse connected via Bluetooth to cellphones, tablets, and computers. It is placed on the palate like a dental retainer and converts tongue movements into mouse movements and clicks.
It has also been tested on electric wheelchairs, demonstrating that this interface can extend to physical movement and allow users to perform tasks that previously required assistance.
Beyond replacing other assistive technologies, MouthPad proposes a different alternative for improved accessibility.
