Can you imagine spending a night inside a Poké Ball? That is the idea being explored by Pokémon Sleep and NOT A HOTEL through a new collaboration in Hokkaido, Japan.
The collaboration brings together the world of Pokémon Sleep and NOT A HOTEL’s approach to architecture and hospitality. Announced on September 1, 2026, the project involves the creation of a Poké Ball-inspired space that will be available exclusively to the winners of a special campaign.
The connection between the two concepts begins with sleep. In the Pokémon universe, Poké Balls are devices used to catch and carry Pokémon. Pokémon Sleep, meanwhile, is an app launched in 2023 that tracks users’ sleep patterns and incorporates them into a game where players can observe the different sleeping styles of Pokémon gathered around Snorlax.
Although the project has been described as a “Poké Ball-Themed Hotel,” it is not a new hotel available for regular bookings. During the campaign, the space will not be open to the general public; only the selected winners will be able to stay there.
So far, the companies have not revealed the interior or provided details about its dimensions, layout or amenities. What has been confirmed is the concept and its location somewhere in Hokkaido.
The September 15 presentation will reveal how architecture, technology and elements from Pokémon Sleep will be integrated into the experience. It will also provide instructions on how to enter the campaign.
For now, the project demonstrates how an entertainment property can move beyond the screen and become a physical experience. It also leaves us with a simple question: if you could choose where to spend the night, would you pick a hotel or a Poké Ball?
