For decades, wedding dynamics were largely the same: guests arrived, watched the ceremony, admired the decorations, signed a guestbook, witnessed the cutting of the cake and danced.
However, some couples are beginning to replant traditional elements and are turning them into more participatory experiences. One of the trends that is gaining popularity is transforming the wedding cake into an interactive activity for guests.
For years, signature books were one of the most common ways for family and friends to leave messages for the couple. Now, some celebrations are replacing that format with a much more visual alternative: writing on a large minimalist cake using pastry sleeves filled with different colored frosting.
One example of this is Cakes by the Archer, a pastry studio that specializes in weddings and events that has garnered attention on social media for its large interactive cakes.

The proposal consists of minimalist cake designs that function as an edible canvas. During the celebration, guests can write messages, make drawings or leave small memories on the surface of the cake using glaze, turning a classic tradition into a collective experience.
Beyond aesthetics, the trend reflects how many current celebrations seek to get attendees to not only observe the event, but also to actively participate in it.
