The trend forecasting platform START by WGSN analyzed men’s catwalks in Paris and Milan to identify thetrends for the 2027 Spring/Summer season.
The new season is committed to hybridity: Sportswear with tailoring and lightweight materials, as well as functional elements that turn pockets, zippers and utilitarian structures into design protagonists.
These are the 7 men’s fashion trends for 2027:
1. Tailored Sportswear
One of the top combinations of the season unites the comfort of sportswear with the structure of tailoring. Lightweight parkas, nylon coats and windbreakers that overlap with classic pants to create more dynamic silhouettes.
The combination, seen from brands such as Saint Laurent and Dries Van Noten, breaks the boundary between elegance and comfort.
2. The Dress Shirt is Reinvented
The dress shirt is reinvented, appearing in ultra-thin fabrics, embroidery and breathable textures. Refined finishes and structured collars allow the garment to move between a more relaxed look and a sophisticated one.
Dolce & Gabbana, Maison Kitsuné and ERL are some of the designers that brought these reinvented dress shirts to the catwalk, proving that basics can still become fashion statements.
3. Long Coats + Short Pants
Proportions will also be another trend. Outerwear will lengthen and gain movement, while Bermuda shorts lighten the look.
Unstructured trench coats and lightweight fabrics build a contrast that brands such as Dries Van Noten, Louis Gabriel Nouchi and System explored in their collections.
4. Transparency and Lightweight Fabrics
Transparencies and lightweight materials are being used for shirts, T-shirts and sleeveless garments. Chiffons, fluid fabrics and openwork knits allow the body to be revealed in a more subtle way.
Feng Chen Wang, Prada and Saint Laurent are some of the brands that explored a lighter, sensual and less rigid masculinity.
5. Maximalism with Pockets and Zippers
The influence of workwear continues to evolve, with jackets and vests incorporating XL compartments, buckles and visible zippers, turning functionality into part of the design of the garments.
Giorgio Armani, Brioni, Sacai and Brunello Cucinelli incorporated this maximalist look into their collections.
6. Worn and Washed Finishes
Denim, cotton and twill fabrics bring back washed, faded and slightly worn finishes.
Imperfect surfaces provide a sense of history, as if the garment already had a life before it reached the consumer.
Junya Watanabe, Maison Kitsuné, Shinyakozuka and Yoke are bringing worn and washed to the runways.
7. The Colors: Faded Pink and Soft Greens
Next season’s palette seeks to break with neutrals without abandoning versatility.
In Paris, faded pink appears as one of the highlights. Opaque, soft and with a certain retro air, with textured tailoring, fluid shirts and workwear inspired garments.
Meanwhile, Milan is leaning towards a family of light and refreshing greens. Shades such as mint green and pistachio update the men’s collections and create contrast against the traditional black, gray and beige bases.
Beyond each individual trend, the runways indicate an umbrella trend: In 2027, men’s fashion will move away from rigid styles: tailoring can coexist with sportswear, functional can becomes aesthetic, and transparencies, soft colors and new proportions can expand the possibilities for the male wardrobe.
