Creating Impact at Global Citizen NOW and Beyond

P&G and its brands join Global Citizen and Young Leaders to act for Gender Equality.

Impact is created when many people unite to take action on issues that matter. In the second year of the Global Citizen NOW summit, held in April 2023, Global Citizen once again brought together activists, artists and world leaders, along with organizations like Procter & Gamble to act NOW for many of today’s most urgent issues.

This marked another important opportunity for P&G to connect, collaborate and spotlight its long-valued partners — including WeConnect InternationalGirl Up and WASH United — as well as young leaders on the frontlines who are finding solutions to some of the biggest barriers to gender equality. Here are a few ways we came together to act NOW.

NOW is the Time for #PeriodForChange

Globally, more than 500 million women and girls lack effective menstrual care products and education. As part of our commitment to help #EndPeriodPoverty, we came together with supporters of the Global Menstrual Equity Accelerator (GMEA), our brands Always and Whisper and dedicated Period Heroes, including Chantal Alison-Konteh of Her Village and Elise Joy of Girls Helping Girls. Period.

Kicking off at the Global Citizen Festival in September 2022, the ‘PERIOD FOR CHANGE’ campaign was launched in support of the GMEA, which aims to expand support for organizations pursuing menstrual health equity, channeling more energy and ensuring the flow of new resources to support local and community- based menstrual equity initiatives across the globe. NOW is the Time to Elevate Young Leaders

The Global Citizen Prize Citizen Award is always a summit highlight, and this year it recognized four trailblazing activists impacting their local communities. At P&G, we share this commitment to elevating courageous young leaders, and the summit was another opportunity to give visibility to several young women change agents. One such young leader is activist, storyteller and filmmaker Zuriel Oduwole who joined us at Global Citizen NOW.
